R:Synchronizer
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can R:Synchronizer run on a database running in any version of R:BASE?
A: Any database format having the extension (.RB1-.RB4), as long as the initial preparation work is performed on the tables to be involved with synchronization. R:BASE V-8 Turbo users (.RX1-.RX4) will use R:Synchronizer 8.0.
Q: Can the "source" database be open in multi-user mode while the synchronization process is running? In both manual, as well as script mode?
A: Yes! From the start, R:Synchronizer was built keeping these practical environments in mind.
Q: Can multiple users synchronize simultaneously to the same "source" database?
A: Yes! After the initial setup and preparation, you can automate the entire process based on the user's Synchronization Settings.
Q: Can I synchronize two databases that are not identical?
A: Yes! Using the Column Mapping, you can link columns manually or automatically by common column names.
Q: Specifically, what are the changes that are made to the database when it is configured for R:Synchronizer?
A. Every table in the database, to be included in the synchronization process, MUST have two additional columns:
- RBSyncUID (INTEGER)
- RBSyncTimeStamp (DATETIME)
And, you must run the built-in preparation tool to optimize the database, which is performed only once.
Q: How is the pricing for the number of seats? If I have ten users with laptops but only one will synchronize at a time, how many seats do I need to buy?
A: Pricing and licensing structure is similar to R:BASE 7.6.
- Single Seat License
- 5 Seat Add-On Network License
- Single Site Unlimited License
- Multi Site Unlimited License
